marlena skrabak (she/her) has a BA from harvard college in history and science (track: medicine and society) and french literature and a secondary in global health and health policy. she studied at université paris I panthéon-sorbonne under the augustus clifford towers postgraduate fellowship. she now studies medicine at the university of california, san francisco.
her roots in storytelling stem from a borrowed point-&-shoot in middle school, to her grandmother’s film camera in high school—rolling film in pitch-black rooms and developing black & white negatives—to digital manipulation. her background in film informs how she approaches the effects of exposure, explores transparency in oil paint, and relocates stories in words and often not words.
